Participants discovered the unique treasures, sights, sounds and food of downtown west Dearborn during the Community Challenge Scavenger Race.
The event, presented by American Laser Skincare, included a costume contest, a scavenger hunt on a 5K route, family and team fun, an after party with music and cash prizes.
“We had a wonderful time at the inaugural year of this newest community event,” participant Heather Mydloski said.
“The event was a wonderful opportunity to bring your family, friends or coworkers out for a fun and challenging afternoon, all while promoting physical, outdoor activity,” Chamber President Jackie Lovejoy said.
Participants received a race bib and clue sheets to aid them on their journey. A costume contest added to the festivities, with the first place team dressing as individual ingredients of a s’mores treat. Participants were encouraged to dress in a team theme or individually.
After completing the afternoon’s challenges, participants ended up at the after party at bd’s Mongolian Grill which included entertainment, and cash prizes for the winning teams and best costume.
“We are thrilled with the outcome of our first Community Challenge Scavenger Race,” said Ron Hinrichs, director of Events & Media Relations for the chamber. “All of our participants had a blast and we are excited to build upon the momentum that has resulted from this year’s success.”
