DEARBORN — From baseball to football and sporting events in between, hot dogs are a popular food selection with fans.
Hot dogs are also popular with Hamzeh Darwiche, owner of the newly opened Stadium restaurant, 1034 Monroe.
“I’ve attended so many baseball and football games and traveled to other cities where hot dogs are a big hit with people,” he said. “I always wanted to taste the hot dogs but couldn’t because they weren’t halal.”
The decor of the restaurant encompasses a sporting event theme with photos and banners hanging on the walls and televisions to watch games.
Darwiche saw the need for a restaurant that serves halal hot dogs and other stadium-inspired food in the city.
“There are a lot of options for halal hamburgers in Dearborn, but I really wanted the opportunity to provide halal hot dogs to customers,” he said.
Stadium offers a variety of options including hot dogs, hamburgers, turkey burgers, chicken burgers vegan dogs, nachos, onion rings, salad and mozzarella sticks.
“I just loving making and serving people good, gourmet food at an affordable price,” Darwiche said.
He also has an idea for the leftover food from the end of each day, donating them to people in need.
“I plan to partner with Zaman International to give our leftovers to those who need it most,” he said.
As for location, the city of Dearborn ending user-paid parking in March in downtown west Dearborn played a part in the Darwiche’s decision.
“I looked at locations in east and west Dearborn,” he said. “West Dearborn was a better fit because the space met all our needs and the removal of paid parking.”
Stadium restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.
