LINCOLN PARK – Police are looking for a man and an unidentified driver last seen leaving Family Dollar, 2027 McKinley, after assaulting and robbing a woman in the parking lot Dec. 30.

According to police reports, officers responded to a purse-snatching call at 11:40 a.m. Dec. 30. A woman said she drove to the store and parked about 50 yards from the entrance doors. After she stepped out of her vehicle, a black man in his 20s with a dark colored mustache wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt exited a dark blue van that had been parked nearby.

The man demanded the woman’s purse several times as he approached.

The man then punched the woman just below her rib cage, and she fell to the ground. The man took her purse and ran to the van, which was last seen headed through the alley to southbound McKinley.

The woman was treated by paramedics for cuts sustained when she fell, and was taken to a hospital for further examination.

Police checked the area for evidence, spoke with witnesses and were reviewing video surveillance images from nearby businesses.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Lincoln Park police at 313-381-1800.
