DEARBORN — A Dearborn woman received a letter filled with hate speech Nov. 19 which featured a similar logo used by President-elect Donald Trump’s campaign.
A cousin of the woman, who wished to remain anonymous, gave details to Arab America just days after the letter was discovered in her mailbox.
The letter read:
“Dear Terrorist-B—-, We are writing to you as the newly organized Neighborhood Town Watch. We understand that you currently wear a scarf on your head and we would like to put you on notice that this will no longer be tolerated in our neighborhood. Now that America is great again, we would like to offer you two opportunities to avoid any consequences on your poor previous decisions. First, you can take your radical attire of (sic) and live like all Americans. Or, your second option, you can go back to the God Forsaken land you came from.”
It was signed “America is Great Again, Neighborhood Town Watch,” with no specific name, neighborhood association or address.
The blue rectangle with red lining and five stars across the top and bottom reads “Trump. Make American Great Again” is being called fake and not from the official Trump campaign.
Although it seems that the letter is not official based on its non-specific language and logo, the Trump team has not acknowledged or addressed it.
It is unknown if any other residents locally received the same letter, but it was also sent to Muslim women in Massachusetts, according to social media posts.
Dearborn police did not respond to phone calls by press time.
Anyone with information on this letter or similar letters is asked to call police at 313-943-2241.
