Public invited to sing along at ‘Grease’ movie benefit for Guido Theater

March 14, 2017 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

DEARBORN – “Grease is the word” … the word for an evening of 1950s-style fun with music, food and entertainment and the opportunity to sing along to a special screening of the iconic film “Grease” March 24 at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center.

The fundraiser for the Michael A. Guido Theater begins at 6 p.m., offering guests a special prop-filled gift bag and drive-in movie dining treats, including Dearborn Brand hot dogs, root beer and Coke floats, and popcorn. A cash bar is available.

Participants are welcome to dress for the decade in leather jackets, poodle skirts, jeans with turned-up cuffs or other ’50s era attire. At 7 p.m., prizes will be awarded for the coolest costumes and for “Grease” aficionados who show the best moves in the hand jive contest.

Audience members can sing and dance along to favorite songs like “Greased Lightnin’,” “Summer Nights” and “You’re the One that I Want” at 8 p.m. when a special version of “Grease” with the words to the songs appears on the theater screen.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for children 12 and under, and can be purchased at the Theater Box Office in person or by phone at 313-943-2354. Tickets for adults also can be purchased online at http://dearborntheater.com/whats-on/1-whats-on/10003765-grease-sing-a-long.

The fundraiser is presented by the Dearborn Community Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, in partnership with the Dearborn Department of Recreation & Parks.

For more information about the event, call the theater box office at 313-943-2354.
