Custom Doll Wear targeted in theft

March 16, 2017 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

LINCOLN PARK –  Police are investigating a March 11 theft from Custom Doll Wear, a specialty store at 1069 Southfield Road.

The 37-year-old business owner who is renting the space, said she left the store about 2 p.m. March 7 and when she returned about 1 p.m. March 11, she discovered a storm door was damaged and unlocked. She said she left the store on March 7 after losing power and secured the door.

Police found the deadbolt keyhole was drilled out. Once inside, the culprit allegedly stole five surveillance cameras valued at $300, a $200 credit card reader, and $700 worth of tools including a bubble gum machine, cash register and showcase stand.

The business owner said only the credit card machine was hers; she said the remainder of the items belonged to the previous tenant. The woman suspects the previous owner may have returned for the items, but took her credit card machine in the process.

The building’s landlord was contacted and the incident was turned over to detectives for further investigation.
