DEARBORN — A request to award a contract to start the demolition of the current Ford Woods Park pool and build a new pool complex in its place was discussed at the City Council’s Committee of the Whole meeting April 6.
An offer was made by Councilman Michael Sareini with support from Councilman Brian O’Donnell.
The request was made to award a contract to International Construction at the cost of $35,750
The earliest the council can vote on the item is at the April 11 council meeting.
Demolition will begin as soon as the contract is finalized and is expected to be completed in 23 days. The pool’s location will be changed and the current pool site will be filled.
Mayor John O’Reilly Jr. brought up the remodeling during his 2017 State of the City broadcasts earlier this year.
“Among the biggest projects on the table is a new pool complex at Ford Woods Park with zero depth entry, water slides, room for two hundred swimmers, spray features and shaded areas,” he said.
The Recreation & Parks Department currently is working on securing an architect and engineer firm to complete the design of the pool.
