DEARBORN — An Inkster man was arrested and charged in connection with a June 2 unarmed robbery in east Dearborn.

Kevin Allen Pittiman Jr., 29, was arraigned today in 19th District Court on charges of unarmed robbery, larceny from a person, obstructing justice, and habitual offender fourth notice. Judge Mark Somers set bond at $100,000 and a GPS tether if Pittiman posts bond.

A probable cause conference was scheduled for 9 a.m. June 16, and a preliminary examination of the evidence against him was set for 9 a.m. June 23, both in 19th District Court.

Just before midnight June 2, Dearborn police responded to the area of Ternes and Arthur streets on a report of an unarmed robbery. At the scene, the victim said she entered a friend’s vehicle when a man approached, forcibly took the woman’s purse from her lap and ran away.

A witness saw the man fleeing and provided information to responding officers who arrested the suspect after a brief foot chase.

“The victim’s attention to detail regarding the suspect was very helpful in this case,” Police Chief Ronald Haddad said. “We are also grateful that a citizen took the initiative to contact the police immediately upon seeing suspicious activity.  This combined with a great response time from my officers allowed us to remove a dangerous criminal from the streets.”
