TAYLOR – A Wayne County woman has a “better outlook on life” after winning $1 million playing the Michigan Lottery’s Lucky 7’s Multiplier instant game.
The player, who chose to remain anonymous, bought her winning ticket at the Marathon gas station at 8350 Telegraph Road.
“When I scratched the ticket off, my first thought was: ‘OK, what did I do wrong?’” the player said. “I skipped work that morning and waited for the Lottery office to open so I could call and see what was going on. Once I talked to the Lottery and confirmed the ticket was worth $1 million, I was stunned.
“Even sitting here, it all still seems so surreal,” the player said Aug. 28 when claiming her prize at Lottery headquarters.
The player choose to receive her prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $634,000 rather than an annuity. With her winnings, she plans to complete some home repairs, take a cruise to Alaska, and then invest the remainder.
“Winning has given me a better outlook on life. I feel more secure than I did yesterday and my future seems so much brighter,” the player said.
Players have won nearly $32 million playing Lucky 7’s Multiplier, which launched in January. Each $10 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $10 up to $1 million. More than $35 million in prizes remain, including two $1 million top prizes, 13 $17,000 prizes, 62 $7,000 prizes, and 120 $1,777 prizes.
Lottery instant games may be purchased at 11,000 retailers across the state.
