TAYOR — The Information Center Hope for the Holidays/Adopt-a-Family Program continues the tradition of providing holiday gifts for low-income families.

The program matches families with community donors for extra assistance during the holiday season. The Adopt-a-Family program is supported by private donations, churches and local businesses.

For over 30 years, this program has been widely successful due to the generosity of the community. Many Downriver residents have been helped through this collaborative program.

Donna B. of River Rouge and her children were one of many families who received gifts through the program.

“Thank you for helping my family during the holidays,” she told officials at the Information Center. “We are grateful and really appreciate the help you have given.”

In 2016, over 1,300 people were assisted overall with food, gift cards and miscellaneous items.

If you or your business would like to adopt a family or would like to make a cash donation to help sustain the Hope for the Holidays Program another year, contact Lori Stevenson at 734-282-7171.
