Day camp program for kids ages 5-11

DEARBORN — “Summer Camp at The Center,” the Recreation & Parks Department’s day camp at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, has a few openings for the holiday-shortened week of July 1.

Tailored to youngsters ages 5 to 11, “Summer Camp at The Center” features both indoor and outdoor activities, such as active group games, arts and crafts, rock wall climbing and swimming in the leisure pool.

The July 1 session runs Monday through Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Additional child care is available from 7:30-8:30 a.m. and 4:30-5 p.m. at a cost of $3 per half hour.

All camp counselors are either certified elementary school teachers or university students majoring in education, and the camper-to-counselor ratio is 10-1.

Registration, which takes place at the service desk of the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Ave., includes submission of a copy of the child’s birth certificate, a health form and a liability waiver, and payment in full by 3 p.m. June 28.

The cost is $87 for Passholders, $105 for residents and $120 for non-residents. Siblings receive a $20-per-week discount.
