HEIGHTS — Ladonna Boatwright, 37, of Detroit was charged for assaulting a pregnant woman with her vehicle June 29 at Burger King, 20401 W. Warren Ave.

The Wayne County Prosector’s Office announced the charges July 3 of two counts of assault with intent to murder, two counts of assault with internet to do great bodily harm, two counts of felonious assault, and assaulting a pregnant individual.

That same day, Boatwright turned herself into police and was arraigned in front of 20th District Court Mark Plawecki. A probable cause conference is scheduled for July 17 and a preliminary examination of the evidence against her is scheduled for July 24 in the 20th District Court.

According to the Prosector’s Office, Dearborn Heights police were dispatched at 11:21 p.m. to Burger King on a report of a fight. Once on the scene, officers observed a woman who was eight months pregnant being treated by paramedics in the parking lot.

The pregnant woman was transported to a local hospital for further treatment.

A verbal argument between the woman and Boatwright allegedly took place and escalated into a physical fight when Boatwright struck the woman with her vehicle.

In a cellphone video of the altercation, two women, including the pregnant woman, are seen hitting Boatwright who was sitting inside her vehicle. Boatwright then reversed from a parking spot, struck the pregnant woman and drove off.

WJBK Channel 2 reported that the pregnant woman received bumps and bruises and that the baby is OK.
