MELVINDALE – The top votegetters, Mayor Pro Tem Wheeler Marsee, and Ian Striz, son of the current mayor, Stacy Bazman, will advance to the Nov. 6 general election.

With more than 10 percent of registered voters in the city casting a ballot during yesterday’s mayoral primary, the unofficial election night summary indicated that Marsee received 468 votes, or 61 percent, with Striz receiving 217 votes, or 28 percent of the ballots cast.

City Council President Nicole Barnes, who will not advance to the general election, received 78 votes, or 10 percent of the ballots cast.
