WYANDOTTE – Nearly two years after the violent death of Linda Breen, 55, of Wyandotte, enough evidence has been gathered to justify the arrest of Charles Franklin Whitman, 38, her abusive boyfriend.

He was charged with second degree murder in Breen’s death, and would face life in prison if convicted. Whitman has a long criminal record, and is considered a habitual offender.

Whitman was arraigned at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 14 in 27th District Court before Judge Elizabeth DiSanto, who ordered him held without bond.

Breen, who died Feb. 2, 2019, was found dead in her apartment, stabbed multiple times. Police gathered physical evidence at the scene, including the suspected murder weapon.

During the arraignment, a screwdriver was said to be the murder weapon.

A probable cause conference is set for 11:45 a.m. Jan. 21 via Zoom in 27th District Court.
