SOUTHGATE — An alert gas station clerk photographed the license plate of a vehicle the afternoon of Jan. 24 after a customer drove off without paying for the gasoline they had just pumped.

The incident, which occurred at the BP station, 15300 Northline Road, occurred at the pump on the far west side of the station. The owner indicated that he did not want to press charges, but did want to document the incident.
