Shoplifters make a clean getaway

SOUTHGATE — A pair of shoplifters at CVS Pharmacy, 15300 Eureka Road, made a clean getaway the evening of Feb. 10 with seven bottles of Dove body wash and a container of deodorant, with a collective $120 value.

A store employee said the pair were in the store for about five minutes, and provided police officers with surveillance footage.

Soap is a popular item with thieves, because it is easy to fence, and there is a steady market for it among people in low-income areas who purchase stolen goods at a discount over retail.
