DEARBORN – Property owners who want to appear before the city’s Assessor’s Board of Review to appeal their property assessments have several opportunities to do so the week of March 8.
Property tax assessments are not tax bills, but the assessment is used when tax bills are calculated.
The in-person appeals will take place at the Dearborn Administrative Center, 16901 Michigan Ave. Visitors to the DAC are required to wear a face mask over their mouth and nose while they are in the building and may be asked to answer a few health screening questions.
The dates and times of the in-person appeals are:
Monday, March 8: 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m.
Tuesday, March 9: 2 to 6 p.m.
Wednesday, March 10: 2 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m.
Thursday, March 11: 9 a.m. to noon.
Friday, March 12: 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m.
Walk-in appointments will be permitted during the above times, but all scheduled appointments will be given priority. Residents are advised to schedule an appointment with the Assessor’s Office by calling 313-943-2140.
Residents also may appeal by letter. All written appeals must be received by the Board of Review’s hands by 4 p.m. March 12. Postmarked appeals will not be accepted.
Written appeals can be dropped off to the Assessor’s Office during normal operating hours, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday; placed in the drop box located in the DAC’s parking lot; or mailed through USPS, FedEx, or UPS.
