LINCOLN PARK – A 29-year-old Lincoln Park mother of three, Hillarie Galazka, died in a car crash at 11:25 p.m. March 1 on the westbound I-96 entrance ramp from westbound Davison, after another vehicle struck her car.
Michigan State Police posted on its Twitter page that her 5-year-old twin sons were transported to Children’s Hospital, where they were treated for minor injuries before being released to family members.
The MSP said the at-fault driver, a 25-year-old man in a Chevy Traverse, struck the Saturn ION Galazka was driving, causing significant damage to the rear of the vehicle.
The man left the scene of the crash on foot and went to a nearby gas station, where he got a ride to a hospital, and where he was later found by investigators.
He has two prior convictions for driving on a suspended license, five current suspensions and two local warrants for his arrest.
A warrant was sought for a blood sample from the at-fault driver. MSP said the investigation is ongoing, and a report will be forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for review.
A GoFundMe page was set up by the family, and has raised $16,000 of the $20,000 sought as of Thursday.
