HEIGHTS — The city announced the first Dan Paletko Memorial Golf Outing which is set to take place June 18 at the Warren Valley Golf and Banquet Center.

Tickets for the event are $90 per person and $250 for hole sponsorships. The event begins at 9 a.m. with an 8 a.m. check-in.

Proceeds will benefit Dearborn Heights Fire and Police charities and the Dearborn Heights Goodfellows Association.

Former Mayor Paletko died Dec. 29 due to complications from COVID-19.

“Mr. Paletko had a humbling support for our police and fire departments and always made sure he had our backs,” a letter signed by Dearborn Heights Police Officer Cpl. Carrie Hatten said. “Now we plan on always making sure his legacy for the City of Dearborn Heights is never forgotten and we are going to be having a memorial golf outing in his honor.”

The Police and Fire departments are asking for any donations in the form of prizes and silent auction items such as gift cards or certificates, golf items, free food coupons and gift baskets.

For registration and sponsorship forms, or to donate prizes and silent auction items, contact DHPD Cpl. Carrie Hatten at [email protected], or Goodfellows Treasurer John Zadikian at [email protected], and put “Dan Paletko Golf Outing” in the subject line.

“Thank you for anything you may be able to provide us to ensure a successful fundraising outing and honoring the late mayor of Dearborn Heights, Dan Paletko,” the letter read.

Local businesses interested in donating or sponsoring a hole in the golf outing also can contact Hatten. The gold sponsor costs $1,000 and includes 18 holes of golf for four with a cart, four premium signs posted at four holes sponsored, premium ad in the program and announcement from both the fire and police social media pages.
