DTE to relocate 1,200 natural gas meters outside of Taylor homes this year

March 25, 2021 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

TAYLOR — DTE Energy crews will be scheduling appointments with homeowners in Taylor to relocate natural gas meters to the outside of their homes. DTE plans on relocating about 1,200 meters this year.

DTE representatives will soon be in Taylor neighborhoods, knocking on doors to make appointments for this work. If no one is home, information will be left so that you can call and schedule.

Moving the meters outside of homes reduces the need for workers to access the inside of homes for maintenance, readings or safety inspections.

The relocation of the meters is free, and is required by the state of Michigan. It will take two to three hours to complete, during which gas service to the home will be interrupted and someone 18 or older must be present while the crews do their work.

For questions or seek more information, call 313-294-3445.
