RIVERVIEW — A 45-year-old homeless man was arrested by police for defecating in public view in front of a church in the 15000 block of Pennsylvania Road.
Police received the call about 10 a.m. March 22 and once at the scene they observed the man a short distance from the church. According to the press release, the man admitted to being responsible for defecating in public.
He was arrested for disorderly conduct and taken to the Police Department for processing. It is believed that the man — whose last known residence was River Rouge — might be responsible for similar acts in neighboring communities, the press release said.
The man’s identity was not immediately released pending his arraignment in 27th District Court.
“We appreciate the number of calls we received alerting us to this man’s behavior,” Police Chief Ron Beggs said. “We understand that some of the vehicles passing by at the time of this incident had children in the car, and justifiably upset parents, who witnessed this man’s unacceptable behavior.
“The Riverview Police Department takes quality of life issues seriously and we will always work to ensure that our community remains a great place to live, work and visit.”
