ALLEN PARK — While on patrol Feb. 26, police observed a blue Jeep Liberty with an expired license plate traveling east on Southfield Road near Rosedale Boulevard.
A traffic stop was conducted where the officer made contact with the driver who said he thought the vehicle’s registration was current and the vehicle belonged to him. He did not have proof of insurance, registration or a valid driver’s license. While searching the driver, police found a purple rubber case along with a digital scale. Inside the case was a single glass pipe with a bulb at the end fashioned for smoking crystal meth.
The pipe was burnt with suspected crystal meth residue inside. According to the report, the driver said, “That’s not mine. I found that,” before saying, “Nah. I get high. I don’t know why I lied.”
A second police officer and a K-9 were called to the scene, where they found a small plastic bag containing suspected 1.8 grams of crystal meth along with another small plastic bag containing seven pieces of Alprazolam 2-milligram pills. Also found was a larger plastic bag containing 37.2 grams of suspected marijuana. The driver’s license had current suspicions and prior additional suspensions along with a warrant out of Brownstown Township for opening while visibly impaired.
The man was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, analogue drugs, narcotic equipment and driving with a suspended license. The drugs and license plate were seized as evidence by police.
