DEARBORN — Henry Ford College will host a virtual Pre-Education Program Zoom Conference “Teaching with Technical Know How” for educators and parents from 9 a.m. to noon April 16. The cost to attend is $5. Register for the conference at Eventbrite.

Michael McVey will be the keynote speaker and presenter at the conference. McVey is a professor of teacher education in the College of Education at Eastern Michigan University. He teaches educational technology courses to pre-service teachers and conducts research on emerging technologies and their impact on teaching practice.

The vice president of the Saline Area Schools Board of Education and the secretary of the International Society for Technology in Education Board of Directors, McVey is an ISTE certified educator, as well as a certified Google trainer and coach. He recently authored a chapter called “The Necessity of Training Teacher Candidates to Teach Online” in the book “Championing Technology Infusion in Teacher Preparation.” Before coming to Michigan, he taught elementary and high school special education in Arizona, Canada, and Japan for nearly 20 years.

Classroom teachers, education majors, parents and anyone interested in a career in education is invited. Teaching with technology from pre-K through high school will be the focus of this interactive conference.

“If you are a teacher, an education major, or a parent who is helping your child learn via technology, this is the conference for you,” HFC Pre-Education Program Director Patricia Lanzon said. “The conference integrates technology theory into home-based practice. Attendees will receive a certificate of achievement for attending the conference. All attendees can participate in a raffle and win a prize! This is one education conference you don’t want to miss.”

For questions or more information, contact Lanzon at [email protected].
