LINCOLN PARK — A Lincoln Park man filed a police report April 1 when a debt collection agency threatened to garnish his wages to cover a $974 DTE debt run up in his name.

The account was opened for an address where the victim’s mother used to live, but he never lived at the address, and his mother did not open any accounts in his name. In addition, DTE did not provide service to the address associated with the past due account.

The man was provided with a police report to satisfy the collection agency and DTE.
