MELVINDALE — Hammer-wielding thieves smashed a window at Melvindale Motors, 17672 Dix Road, about 2 a.m. May 23, stealing a safe containing less than $100 in change and possibly a silver bar with a $260 value.
Four people, wearing athletic clothes and face masks, were shown on surveillance footage, entering through a smashed garage bay door window on the south side of the business.
A hammer that may have been used to smash the window was recovered at the scene and taken into evidence.
