SOUTHGATE — A fire in the rear of a 2010 Dodge Charger the morning of June 26, near Reeck and Northline roads, may have been caused by faulty speaker wires or a malfunctioning battery.

The driver, who noticed smoke coming from the rear of his vehicle, tried to make it to his workplace, but had to pull off the road when the smoke thickened.

Southgate firefighters extinguished the blaze, and the vehicle was impounded and towed.
