LINCOLN PARK — A 21-year-old Lincoln Park man is poorer but wiser after supplying his personal identity information and a fee by way of a gift card in exchange for promised free money from an “international monetary relief fund.”

The victim said he received a message that he thought was from his cousin to apply for the free funds, which was likely the result of a Facebook hack.

He said he supplied his driver’s license number, Social Security number, date of birth, address, job title and annual income. He said he did not supply any banking information.

He was advised to put an alert on his credit reports and his financial accounts for suspicious activity.
