DEARBORN — As schools prepare to open the 2021-22 school year next week, Dearborn Public Schools announced a list of administrative changes. The Board of Education approved the changes over the last few months, including several at the Aug. 23 meeting.
• Adam Martin was named executive director of Student Achievement for the Fordson feeder track. Martin is currently the principal of Dearborn High School.
• Bob Attee is now director of Technology and Media Services. He was previously principal at DuVall Elementary.
• Mary Timpf is now principal at DuVall Elementary. She previously served as assistant principal at Henry Ford Elementary. DuVall will host a meet the principal night on Aug. 30 at p.m.
• Greg Oke is now principal at Whitmore-Bolles Elementary after former principal Kristin Waddell retired. Oke was previously principal at Stout Middle School. Whitmore-Bolles will host a meet the principal night at 5 p.m. Sept. 1.
• Hebat Abdelbaki is the new principal at Stout Middle School, after previously serving as assistant principal at Fordson High School. Stout will host a meet the principal event at 5 p.m. Sept. 7.
• At Woodworth Middle School, Nicole Rabac is the new principal after previously serving as Principal at Miller Elementary. Woodworth will host a meet the principal night at 5 p.m. Aug. 31. Ali Salamey was appointed as assistant principal at Woodworth Middle School after previously working as a middle school teacher at Lowrey School.
• Shannon Peterson is now principal at Long Elementary and the Dearborn Virtual K-12 School after previously serving as executive director Student Achievement for the Fordson feeder track. Former Long Elementary Principal Veronica Jakubus retired. Virtual K-12 is a new school. Long will host a meet the principal night at 5 p.m. Aug. 26.
• At Edsel Ford High School, Rima Hassan is now principal after former Principal Scott Casebolt took a position in another district. Hassan was previously principal at Woodworth Middle School. Edsel will host a meet the principal event at 4 p.m. Sept. 2.
• Kaid Omar and Aaron Pfeil are new assistant principals at Edsel Ford High School. Omar was previously assistant principal at Salina Intermediate and Pfeil was assistant principal at Woodworth. Former Edsel Assistant Principal Panagiotis Kotsogiannis took a job in another district. The district also added an assistant principal position.
• Charles Silver was named athletic director at Edsel Ford High School. Silver is currently a consultant at Crestwood School District. He replaces Bob Picano who took a job in another district.
• Marawan Salamey is now assistant principal at the Henry Ford Early College Programs/Collegiate Academy, after previously serving as assistant principal at Dearborn High School.
• Elissar Hammoud is now assistant principal at Henry Ford Elementary. Hammoud was an English Language Development specialist at Smith Middle School.
• Amal Chehab is now assistant principal at Miller Elementary. Chehab was an English Language Development specialist at Oakman Elementary School.
• Mohamed Abusaleh is assistant principal at Salina Intermediate after previously working as a teacher at Edsel Ford High School.
• Yusra Hamadeh is assistant principal at Dearborn High School after previously working as a counselor at Crestwood High School.
• Nail Jadallah is assistant principal at Fordson High School after previously working as a teacher at Fordson.
For several years the district has run an Aspiring Administrators program and an Administrative Intern program to support staff members who want to move into administration. With 37 schools, it is not uncommon for Dearborn Schools to have several administrative changes each school year due to the number of positions in the district.
Retirements or other staff movements create openings in a variety of administrative roles, which in turn creates a domino effect as staff shift between positions throughout the district.
“Moving administrators helps them gain experience and provides fresh eyes and ideas in their new roles,” Supt. Glenn Maleyko said. “I am pleased we are able to grow so many of our own administrators and to have such a talented pool of people helping lead the district.”
