MELVINDALE — A 33-year-old Detroit woman who crashed her black Jeep Cherokee into the back of a red Chevy Trailblazer the night of Aug. 6 at Raupp Road near Schaefer Road was arrested for operating under the influence of drugs, and her vehicle was impounded and towed.

Witnesses reported that the woman was swerving in and out of traffic lanes prior to the crash.

A preliminary breath test indicated that the woman had not been drinking alcohol. She failed physical coordination aspects of the field sobriety tests administered, and exhibited tremors. The woman was taken into custody for a voluntary blood draw. She insisted that she had not taken any drugs, but noted that she had a seizure of unknown origin several weeks earlier.

Her driving record showed multiple current and past driver’s license suspensions. She was also driving a vehicle with an improper Texas license plate, for which she did not have a registration.
