ALLEN PARK — Bystanders aided a police officer in arresting a speeding motorcyclist Sept. 14.
Police observed a motorcycle traveling at 77 mph in a 55 mph zone about 8:20 a.m. The driver delayed pulling over, but as the officer made contact he was told by the driver he had no license and placed his hand on the throttle and clutch. Police asked the driver to step off the bike and instead the driver tried to drive away before the officer grabbed the driver’s jacket to get the driver to lay the bike down.
The driver attempted to flee again, and the officer pulled him off the bike and on to the ground. Three bystanders came to the aid of the officer which led to the arrest of the driver without further incident.
The driver had a 5-inch knife on his hip. The motorcycle was found to be stolen and his license was suspended. He is also wanted by several other agencies for outstanding warrants.
The driver was arranged in 24th District Court for receiving and concealing stolen property; carrying a concealed weapon; fleeing a police officer third degree; and assault, resisting and obstructing. All four charges are felonies.
