September 23, 2021 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

Halloween-themed event to feature beer, wine, live music

DEARBORN – Craft beer enthusiasts, Halloween lovers, and supporters of local Dearborn history are invited to enjoy some booze and boos at the Dearborn Historical Museum’s upcoming 8th Annual Beer Festival fundraiser from 6 to 11 p.m. Oct. 8.

The Halloween-themed event will take place in the parking lot of the historic Commandant’s Quarters, 21950 Michigan Ave. This is a new location for the beer festival.

The event will feature beer, wine, live music, and more in support of ongoing renovations to the Dearborn Historical Museum’s three historic structures.

Tickets to the event are $30 in advance or $35 at the door and include six beer samples, with additional samples available for $2 each. Tickets are availabler at the Dearborn Historical Museum office, 915 S. Brady, or on the Dearborn Historical Museum’s website.

The event will feature a variety of food, drink, and entertainment options. Dearborn’s Downey Brewing Co., Dearborn Brewing, and the local Dearborn branch of Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales are expected to be in attendance serving beer and wine.

Dearborn barbecue destination Noah’s Smokehouse will have food available for sale.

Entertainment will be provided by metropolitan Detroit rock band Atomic Radio, who will perform hits from the ’80s and ’90s.

A silent auction and 50/50 raffle will be part of the fundraiser and, keeping in line with the Halloween theme, fortune tellers will be on hand for tarot card readings. Wearing a costume to the event is optional, but encouraged.

The event is being sponsored by the West Dearborn Downtown Development Authority.

“The West Dearborn Downtown Development Authority values working collaboratively with our local community partners to create a vibrant downtown Dearborn experience for all,” said Cristina Sheppard-Decius, manager of the West DDA. “The annual beer tasting event is one of those community gathering assets that adds vitality to the downtown experience and it was sorely missed last year due to the pandemic. We are excited to be a partner in having it return this year right in the heart of the west downtown.”

Proceeds from the event will support the registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit Museum Guild of Dearborn, which financially supports the Dearborn Historical Museum and its public programs, events, and renovation projects. For more information, contact Paul Talpos at [email protected] or 313-565-3000.
