Dearborn Heights dispatcher Alaina Duff (left); Police Officers Mehdi Ayoub and Hazme Younis; Sgt. Mohamad Bazzy — alongside Police Chief Mark Meyers — Officers Ahmad Mazloum, Mohamed Chami, and Wesley Ananich; and dispatcher Laura Nason were recognized for their exceptional and distinguished service by the Dearborn Heights City Council at a Sept. 14 meeting. The citation honored police and dispatch for their work for an armed gunman call which resulted in a double homicide shooting at the Cherry Hill Apartment complex Aug. 29, 2020. Dispatcher Esmerelda Barba was also honored, but was not in attendance at the meeting.
