SOUTHGATE — A resident at Village on the Park Apartments reported an attempted break-in the afternoon of Sept. 2, which woke him up, and left the front door lock broken.
The victim said he heard pounding on his front door, and when he got out of bed and approached his apartment door, he saw the lock break, with just the security chain preventing the door from being opened.
He said he pushed the door closed, and the attempted burglar left without him seeing the suspect. Police officers knocked on neighboring apartment doors, but were unable to find anyone home who might have witnessed the attempted break-in.
