RIVERVIEW — Police responded to Downriver Used Cars, 18061 Fort St., Sept. 22 to investigate a stolen catalytic converter off a black Cadillac Seville on the north side of the lot.

On Sept. 22, the employee said he checked the Cadillac and saw it was hoisted up on a jack stand. When the officer checked under the Cadillac, they could see the catalytic converter had been cut off.

The employee showed police security video of the incident which showed a dark colored SUV back into the lot on the north side of the building, directly next to the Cadillac. A person got out of the SUV and could be seen operating a flashlight and then leaving the area.

According to the report, the employee believes the thief became afraid when a garbage truck pulled in to collect the dumpster, which is why they fled in a hurry and left the car-jack behind.

Photos of the scene were taken by the responding officer and the car jack was taken as evidence.
