ALLEN PARK — Police responded to Meijer, 3565 Fairlane Drive, Sept. 27 after a man took five Nintendo Switch electronics totaling just under $2,500. Two Nintendo Switch Lites were valued at $199 each and three Nintendo Switch Consoles were valued at $299 each.
The Meijer store detective said the theft occurred the day prior and was caught on security video. The man entered the electronics section of the store about 12:48 p.m., approached the Nintendo Switch case and pulled out a crowbar from inside his sweatshirt.
He attempted to open the locked case for about three minutes before taking momentary breaks to see who else entered the department. When the case was open, he stashed the Nintendo Switches elsewhere in the same aisle.
Three times, the man took electronics to the stationary section of the store where he removed the items from their packaging, concealed them in his clothes and left the store
On a fourth and final trip into the store, the man took the remaining switches to the toys section where he did the same thing. He left the store for the final time just before 2:30 p.m.
All the packaging for the electronics were recovered by store detectives. Police were provided with a report, surveillance video and photos of the thief.
