MELVINDALE — Scrappers forcibly removed a catalytic converter from a black Honda Pilot sport utility vehicle the night of Sept. 15 while it was parked at Coogan Terrace, 3501 Oakwood Blvd.
The victim said when he started his car at about 10 a.m. Sept. 16, the exhaust system was making a loud, obnoxious noise, which prompted him to look under the SUV, at which time he discovered the missing component.
A surveillance video from the high-rise management office shows the crime occurring at about 11:47 p.m. Sept. 15, with two or three people arriving in a white Dodge Durango, who are seen sliding under the vandalized vehicle.
The surveillance video was unable to capture the vehicle’s license plate numbr, but a copy of the crime footage was forwarded to the detective bureau for further investigation.
