MELVINDALE — Two fur coats, a 22-inch Sony television and identity documents were reported stolen Nov. 9 from a self-storage unit at 19180 Allen Road.
The victim, a Detroit man, said some of his identity documents were found in an adjourning locker which was being emptied, which were likely discarded there by the thief, who entered by cutting through the metal screen above the storage unit.
He said an estimated $10,000 worth of items were stolen from the storage unit, which was ransacked. Police detectives planned to review security camera footage from the facility.
