DEARBORN — An alert sales clerk at Snipes Streetwear, 15231 Michigan Ave., notified police officers Nov. 26 that a customer was wearing a unique rose gold diamond encrusted pendant around his neck that was reported stolen in a Nov. 24 armed robbery in Southfield.
The suspect’s car, a newer model gray Lincoln MKZ, was parked in a handicapped spot with the motor running in front of the store.
Police officers spotted the suspect, a 23-year-old Inkster man, inside the store, wearing the stolen pendant. They approached him and ordered the man to put his phone down. He did, and took off his coat, revealing that he had a handgun in a pocket, for which he did not have a concealed pistol license.
He was handcuffed and searched, and oxycodone pills, for which he did not have a prescription, were found in a small baggy in a pocket.
The pendant, his iPhone, $1,220 in cash, a black Canada Goose jacket, a black Glock 23 with 13 rounds of ammunition, and the gray 2016 Lincoln MKZ were taken into evidence.
The man had an extensive criminal history, including unarmed felony robbery in 2016 in Taylor, felony carjacking in Romulus in 2018, and the recent armed robbery charge in Southfield.
He was arraigned and given a $10,000 cash bond and a GPS tether.
