DEARBORN — A Detroit man was cited for retail fraud Dec. 10 when he tried to use a receipt from a previous purchase to return new merchandise he loaded into his cart while at Home Depot, 5951 Mercury Drive, for a refund.

Store surveillance footage shows the man entering the store with an empty cart, then placing two Ryobi Shop Vacs, valued at $138, and $20 worth of roof felt into it, after which he went to the return desk in an attempt to fraudulently return the items.

He was cited for larceny, banned from the store and advised to contact Dearborn’s 19th District Court for an appearance date.
