LINCOLN PARK — The attempted theft of a white 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee was averted the morning of Dec. 14 from the 1500 block of Washington Avenue by an anti-theft device that prevented the vehicle from being started.

The vehicle owner, a 28-year-old man, said he received an alert to his cell phone at 2:11 a.m. that his vehicle door had been opened. When he checked his vehicle, he discovered that the components underneath his steering wheel were exposed.

The resident said he has surveillance cameras, but they were not recording at the time of the attempted car theft.
