DEARBORN — A 51-year-old Dearborn man reported Dec. 20 that he received a citation through the mail for a vehicle which he has never owned.

The license plate on the car, a 2003 Isuzu Axiom, was wrongly registered to the victim. A police officer searched online records for the vehicle associated with the plate, and found another person’s name on the registration.

The man was advised to contact a Michigan Secretary of State office to get the record corrected, and to determine whether a data error or fraud was the cause of the confusion.
