DEARBORN – The Dearborn Education Foundation is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2022 by introducing a yearlong campaign to raise $30,000 to help Dearborn Public Schools students with social emotional learning.
The COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on the way students learn, as well as how they interact with others away from classrooms and computers. The campaign seeks to raise money for specially targeted programs and lessons that allow students of all age levels to discuss emotions and feelings, and successfully manage life’s everyday challenges.
“The past two years have been incredibly difficult on everyone connected with our educational system,” DEF Executive Director Chastity Townsend said. “Marrying these challenges with a convenient way for our community to help combat them provides us with a unique opportunity to strengthen our impact on the district and broaden our outreach efforts to a new generation.”
People can donate by texting “30k30years” to 44321 — data charges may apply — as well as by going to dearbornedfoundation.org.
The DEF also is marking the start of its fourth decade with a series of digital content on its social media channels. Videos and posts will focus on the organization’s roots, the millions of dollars it has raised since its inception, and how the public can be a part of its future.
