MELVINDALE — A man grabbed his repaired Xbox from behind the counter at Melvindale Computers on Jan. 5, refusing to pay the discounted $80 repair fee because he had paid $140 for the same Xbox repair in December.

The store employee said the Xbox high-definition multimedia interface port tends to break when the HDMI cable breaks, because pressure must be exerted to get a good connection. He said the customer brought his Xbox in for the same damage twice.

The customer said he did not want to pay for the same repair twice, so he grabbed his Xbox and left without paying.

The interaction between the employee and customer was recorded on surveillance footage. The employee then recorded the man leaving using his phone, and captured footage of the man’s Chevrolet Silverado and the license plate number, which he turned over to police officers, along with the customer’s name and contact information.
