SOUTHGATE — Damage to a roadside wooden mailbox post in the 16800 block of Helen Street, which was struck and splintered by an unknown driver, was reported Jan. 19 by the property owner.

The victim, who was out of town when the incident occurred, said a neighbor provided them with details and a timeline. They said faint tire tracks in the lawn were visible from the impact point, and they estimated that it would cost about $150 to replace the mailbox post.
