SOUTHGATE — More than two cartons of Newport cigarettes and three bottles of Ciroc vodka were stolen at 3:55 a.m. Jan. 22 from 7-Eleven, 12990 Fort St.

The thief was described as a white male wearing a white hat, a black jacket over a gray hoodie, a red mask, black pants and tan shoes, and carrying a blue reusable grocery bag.

A clerk said the man asked if he could warm up a sandwich in the microwave behind the counter as an excuse to move into position to grab the cigarettes and liquor. She said he showed no sign of having a weapon, and did not assault anyone during the theft. He matched the description of a man who had shoplifted at other local 7-Eleven stores during the past year.
