2 Dearborn Heights firefighters promoted

HEIGHTS – The promotions of two firefighters was made official at a June 9 ceremony at City Hall.

Firefighter Scott Smith, a 10-year veteran of the Department, was promoted to the rank of pump operator. In addition to his regular firefighting duties, Smith serves as a member of the department’s Rescue Task Force – the team that specializes in training for responses to active shooter situations.

He is active with several off-duty events as well, including assisting with the department’s annual Muscular Dystrophy Association Fill-the-Boot campaign.

Firefighter Shaun Foster, a seven-year veteran of the Department was promoted to the rank of firefighter 2. In addition to his firefighting duties, he is active with a number of off-duty events, including the department’s annual chili cook-off, its annual open house, and several others.

City Clerk Lynne Senia administered the oath of office at the event, which was attended by several city officials, employees and families of the two firefighters.

“I congratulate these dedicated firefighters on their well-deserved promotions” Mayor Bill Bazzi said. “They are an integral part of our department, which we are all proud of. The men and women of this department really are among the best of the best.”
