Thieves and vandals damaged the Dearborn Heights Pride Garden July 18 and 21 with the garden enclosure the main target. About 7:40 p.m. July 18 (below), three teenagers were walking west on George near Fenton stopped and kicked over the wooden enclosure containing the garden. The teens — while males — then walked to the city’s nearby basketball court. About 1 p.m. July 21 (above), two men took two pieces of lumber used as the garden enclosure. The men — both white — arrived in a light colored vehicle, and took the 4- to 5-foot-long colorful boards. They fled in the vehicle. Anyone with information on the incidents is asked to contact Detective Sgt. Mike Gondek at 313-277-7487. The Pride Garden was established June 4 outside city hall commemorating LGBTQ+ Pride Month.
