September 28, 2022 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

HEIGHTS — The Dearborn Heights Fire Department will host its annual open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 1 at its headquarters, 1999 N. Beech Daly. The event will mark the official kickoff to National Fire Safety Month, which runs all of October.

The free, family-friendly event will feature a host of activities for all ages, including light refreshments, fire suppression, rescue and vehicle extrication demonstrations, and children’s activities and giveaways (including spraying a “burning building” with an actual fire hose and trying on actual firefighters’ turnout gear), Fire Marshal Max Mitts said.

Several fire trucks and rescue vehicles will also be open and available for public viewing.
