HEIGHTS – A two-vehicle collision near the intersection of Ford and Telegraph Roads March 13 claimed the life of a 69-year-old Redford woman.
Police and fire responders from Dearborn Heights and Dearborn were dispatched to the scene of a crash involving a Mercury Milan and Chevrolet Silverado pickup on Ford Road near North Vernon street, west of Telegraph, about 5:20 p.m. The woman, a passenger in the Milan, had to be extricated from the vehicle before being transported to a local hospital where she died from her injuries.
Ford Road was briefly closed while the incident was investigated and processed for evidence, and removal of the involved vehicles.
Dearborn Heights Police Chief Jerrod Hart was grateful for the work of the responders who participated from both communities.
“We would like to thank our colleagues from both the Dearborn Heights and Dearborn police and fire departments for their work in performing the traffic control and their assistance with patient treatment and transport throughout this incident,” Hart said.
The incident remains under investigation. Eyewitnesses to the incident are asked to contact Dearborn Heights Police Sgt. Jordan Dottor at 313-277-6770.
