DEARBORN – The Police Department arrested a 25-year-old Westland resident for their alleged involvement in a non-fatal shooting May 14 in the Fairlane Town Center parking lot.
About midnight on May 14, officers responded to the Fairlane Town Center on a report of multiple gunshots. Upon arrival, officers located numerous spent bullet casings and spoke with several eyewitnesses.
The alleged shooter was apprehended within 11 hours of the incident. A 25-year-old Canton resident who was involved in the shooting suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and received treatment at an area hospital.
Police have determined that this was not a random act of violence. The identity of the individual in custody is being withheld pending charges by the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.
“Gun violence has not and will not ever be tolerated in Dearborn,” Police Chief Issa Shahin said. “While we are thankful that there is no further threat to our community as a result of this incident, it is unacceptable that this reckless and dangerous activity occurred within Dearborn city limits in the first place.
“I am grateful to our officers for their quick response and investigation that led to the apprehension of the alleged shooter.”
